My Profile
This tab consists of your personal information, such as your email, name, PayPal, and country. This information is visible to the Ops Team only, NOT other transcribers. It is very important that this information is correct.
Personal Information
Email: The email listed on your account must be a valid email that you frequently check, as this is our only way to get in touch with you should we need to for any reason. If you wish to change your email after joining our platform, please simply send a ticket to training@transcribeme.com, and we can change the email listed on your account. You will not be able to change your email yourself.
First and Last Name: It is imperative that the First and Last Name listed on your account are your legal first and last name, as listed on any official identification documents that you possess, such as a driver's license or passport. Also note that your name listed on your Hub profile MUST match your TM Watercooler name.
Photo ID: The photo ID is not required except for certain special teams, such as QA. Note, however, that you may be asked to upload your photo identification to confirm your identity. Please make sure you are uploading an official photo ID - NOT a selfie - such as a:
- Driver's license
- Passport
- National ID card
- Student ID
We require to see your full legal name and birthdate on this ID in order to confirm your identity and prove you are of our required age limit. You may blot out other identifying information if you wish. Don't forget to scroll down and click Save once you have successfully uploaded the ID. If your ID has been successfully uploaded to your account, you will see the image displayed on that page.
Troubleshooting: If you do not see the image, try all of the accepted file formats listed beneath the Upload button until your image sticks. If you still have difficulties, you can try changing the size of the image or uploading it via different devices, such as a phone or tablet.
PayPal - IMPORTANT: You MUST list a valid, active PayPal email address that you own on your profile in order to receive payments from us. We do not pay via any method other than PayPal and can only pay you through this PayPal address. Double and triple check that it's correct and contains no typos before withdrawing.
Because the PayPal listed on your account must be under your name, you may not share your PayPal with any other member or use anyone else's PayPal to receive payments from us.
Country: Please list your current location under country. It's fine if your location does not match your nationality.
Preferred Notification Language: This indicates the language you see on your Hub profile. It in no way affects the language of files you receive to work on. You can also change this language by clicking the gray dropdown at the top center of your WorkHub screen.
Transcription Experience: Please enter into this field how much experience you actually have in transcription (not other professions). If you're a total newbie, that's fine! Many of our successful members start from scratch.
Skype: Your Skype name (not required).
Phone: Not required. If we need to contact you, we will do so via email.
Save: After you make any changes to your Profile, don't forget to scroll down and hit Save! If you don't, well, your changes will not be saved.
Transcription Languages (Accents)
In this section, you can select which languages and accents you feel comfortable transcribing in. For English, we offer six different accents for transcribing: North American, British, Aussie, Kiwi, Scottish, and Irish. You will, at first, have access to only North American-accented files. Note that the specified accent in the Guidelines does NOT necessarily represent the accent of the speakers in your file. The accent merely dictates which English spelling you are to use, American or British.
For the other English-language accents, you must take the Accent Exam associated with each accent in order to work on such files. British and Aussie are particularly popular and will open up the most work opportunities, so as soon as you're activated as a Transcriber, be sure to give those exams a go! You can find them on the Exams tab.
Once your knowledge of an accent has been confirmed via one of our exams, the accent will be ticked and green on your account. If you have ticked the accent yourself but have not confirmed it by passing the associated exam, the accent will remain in red.
Review History
Your Review History is where you will be able to see all admin reviews of your work on Transcription jobs, including personalized feedback and tips for you to improve your transcription skills. See the Transcriber Handbook for further details on Transcriber reviews.
Payment History
Under your Payment History tab, you can search by date and payment status to view any or all of your payment transactions with TranscribeMe. This page will show you the Payment ID, Date Requested, Payment Status, Total (amount paid), the PayPal email the transaction was wired to, as well as any comments. If your payment failed, for whatever reason, the comment column will indicate this.
For a customized search, click on the Status icon where it reads Not Paid (Ready to Pay), click Paid, then select your desired dates and hit Refresh. This will show you all successful transactions for your selected timeframe. From there, you can copy/paste the table into a spreadsheet for recordkeeping purposes.
Remember that, as an independent contractor, you are responsible for your own taxes and income declarations. You can, however, use this page to pull all your earnings from a given timeframe (e.g., a tax year).
Change Password
Here, you may change your password at any time. Note that, for security purposes, the system will automatically require you to update your password every few months. For troubleshooting help with changing your password, please email training@transcribeme.com.
Change Hotkeys
IMPORTANT: We STRONGLY discourage you from changing the default hotkeys, as changing them may cause issues later on. Many members who changed their hotkeys have later reported hotkey woes when taking any exams or after joining a special team and working on the Sessions tab.
If you still decide to change the default hotkeys, please note that you can't use numbers (Ctrl+1…9 is used to set speaker IDs on the Sessions tab). Also, Chrome's and any other extension's hotkeys may interfere with your customized hotkeys. DO NOT use Ctrl + Space as a hotkey. If you ever work on the Sessions tab or take any of the QA Exams, that hotkey combination will cause you an immense amount of headaches.
Invite Friend
Help us spread the word and invite your friends to join the TranscribeMe team! All you need to do is enter their email and they will automatically receive an invite.
