FAQs
First, please TELL US! Send a ticket, email us at training@transcribeme.com, or post on Watercooler. It's crucial that we know all instances of this so we can solve the problem!
Then, if you'd like to keep functioning on your session, these suggestions may help:
- Refresh the page: Sometimes a simple refresh gets things running smoothly again.
- Clear that cache: And maybe even restart your computer - we recommend doing this regularly for optimum computer health! - before continuing with your session.
- Spell-check extensions: Do you have Grammarly or LanguageTool working in the QA Editor? These are resource-intensive extensions and can contribute to lag. Disable the extension and see if that helps.
- Go Incognito: Have you tried an Incognito tab? That might help as well.
- What's your browser? We know we always say our Hub operates on Chrome, but any Chromium-based browser - Brave, Edge, Opera, etc. - works as well. Many of us switched to one of these alternatives a few years ago when the Hub would frequently have massive slowdowns, and these browsers are known to be more efficient than Chrome.
We don't have an explicit "Save & Exit" button yet. But don't panic! Your session will save and you can safely exit the page. To replicate Save & Exit on the new UI, simply:
- Click the Save button at the top right. You can also see if the "Session saved seconds ago" message is showing, but it's always comforting to click a button, right?
- When you see the "Session saved seconds ago" message, your session is successfully saved.
- Click QA at the top of your screen. This will pop you back to your "List of Sessions" which will display your session sitting safely and happily in your queue, awaiting your return.
Nope. Hit the Submit button. Another screen and popup will appear asking if you want to continue working or exit.
It's not in the Preview page itself yet, but the functionality is still there! In the main Editor page, right-click anywhere on the Paper to bring up the QA Right-Click Menu. Hover over Copy, then click Copy All Text. This will copy the text and timestamps to your clipboard so you can paste into your proofreading tool of choice.
Ctrl+Right-click will bring up the native browser right-click menu. The new QA right-click menu currently overrides the native functionality, but it's still there! Just add Ctrl before you click, and you can google, M-W, and spell-check to your heart's content.
Don't we all. But there's a workaround, albeit clunky. In the Floating Left Menu, click the Work Settings icon and select Sync Audio to Cursor. This acts similarly as clicking the timestamp, except the audio jumps to the timestamp that corresponds to the paragraph your cursor is in. This setting is incredibly useful for hopping around timestamps and checking your accuracy, but be aware that when your cursor changes paragraphs, the audio will jump.
Check that Sync Audio to Cursor is disabled in the Floating Left Menu. That's likely the culprit. If you disable this and your audio is still jumping around when you don't want it to, please let us know.
You can use Sync Audio to Cursor to hope around at each timestamp and check the accuracy of your stamps. This feature does not alter the audio playback itself, i.e. whether it is in play or pause mode. So if your audio is playing and you have this setting enabled, it will continue playing wherever you place your cursor. If you have the audio paused and you click around, the audio will jump but the audio will remain paused. To simulate the functionality of the old UI, have the audio playing and use your cursor to hope around your paragraphs to hear the audio at each stamp placement.
It often doesn't load when you first open a session. Try refreshing the page. We've also had reports that it doesn't show until a QA commits to the file. But after committing, if it's still not there, refresh the page.
This, again, is usually due to a loading issue. Refresh the page and they should flash; however, we've had reports that they don't flash as accurately as in the old UI. There is also no way to disable the flashing. These issues will be resolved in a future update, but for now, hope this information helps.
Preview "mode" is currently a popup in the new UI. If you make your browser window large enough, you can see that it is a popup over the QA screen. This means that you cannot use Ctrl+A to copy the text, as it will copy the contents of the entire page. To copy all text, go back to the Editor, right-click anywhere on the Paper > Copy > Copy all text to copy your session to your clipboard.
To show an accurate number of items in a Ctrl+F search, you'll have to do this on the main QA Screen until Preview mode is fixed. Everything will show double in Preview. Especially if you're looking for an odd number of quotation marks, for example, please do this from the QA screen. We hope to resolve this in a future Hub update as well.
Not yet, but you can reset the hotkey to some bizarre combination you don't have to worry about accidentally clicking. On the Floating Left Menu, click Hotkeys (at the bottom), and on the bottom right change your key combination for the Submit hotkey.
To maximize screen space, try any or all of the following:
- Collapse the right Side Panel by hitting the toggle arrow.
- Under Editor Settings (the Aa icon) in the Floating Left Menu, change the Paper size to a lower percentage.
We're aware this is a serious issue and will be addressing it in future updates. Feel free to reach out if you have specific feedback about this!
Don't panic, it's still there. First, try Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z for Mac). If that doesn't make it reappear:
- Put your cursor at the end of the chunk before the missing chunk (or at the beginning of the following chunk).
- Hit the arrow key to get your cursor into the runaway chunk.
- Type into it or right-click and select "Restore Transcriber Text." And voilĂ ! It's back!
Or use the Show History feature (click the arrow/clock icon in the QA Actions Toolbar at the top right of the screen) to restore your session to a previously saved version before the chunk went poof.
The Extend button is in the right Side Panel under Details section. It looks like a clockwise arrow and should show you how many hours of inactivity remain on your session. If you can't find this information or can't extend, please reach out and let us know. Self-extending is an important aspect of QAing, and we want this process to be as easy and intuitive as possible!
Times currently shown reflect the time that your system is set to. If your system (computer's) time is set to your local timezone, then the time shown is your timezone. If you have your system set to some other time, you might have to do some math. This will also hopefully be clarified in future releases, and the time shown in both your local time and UTC (as in the old UI).

Put your cursor at the edge of one of the chunks next to it and arrow into the missing chunk. Using the Play by job setting might help.
