Punctuation Edits Style

What are FD Punctuation Edits files?

Transcribers: Punctuation Edits files should be completed the same as other First Draft files. Don't forget to proofread, proofread, proofread! Expand the Style Guidelines to the right of the Transcription screen for full details.

Stampers/QAs: Punctuation Edits (sometimes truncated to Punct Edits or PEdits) is a specialty file that needs to look a bit more polished than standard First Draft. In short, yes, you DO get to correct some errors and inconsistencies! These files therefore pays at a higher rate than regular Stamper files.

Punctuation Edits files adhere to the following basic QA guidelines:

  1. Chunk borders: Fix any punctuation required at chunk borders. For example, ensure all sentences start with a capital letter and sentences end in appropriate punctuation. You do not have to edit the punctuation in the rest of the text. Look the file over in Preview Mode to ensure the text flows as a single coherent document.
  2. Consistency: Be on the lookout for any names or terms that are spelled differently in the session. For example, the name Rachel and Rachael might appear in the text. Please pick a version to use (be sure to google names or terms that may be referenced online somewhere) and make it consistent. You can use the Find and Replace function to easily change spellings.
  3. Light edits: If you see any other light edits that could be done, go ahead, but please don't spend much time on this. If, for example, you spot a typo underlined with a red squiggly line, please do correct that (remember that not every red squiggly line indicates an actual error, however).
  4. Reject, Rectify, and Report: For any really terrible chunks that simply don't make sense - the majority, say half of it, is horrible or a notable portion is incomplete - please reject it for misheard words, correct the text, and fill out the Chunk Reporting Form to be compensated.
  5. Stamp as usual: Please follow all other session and Stamper requirements. Always double-check the QA Guidelines for every file you complete to make sure you're complying with style expectations.

Punct Edits RUSH

Punctuation Edits RUSH follows the same guidelines as Punctuation Edits, except it's, well, Rush! Be sure to understand our QA Rush Policies before taking on these files.

Punct Edits NoTS

Say what? A Stamper file with no timestamps?!? Yep, you read right! For these files, you only need to follow the basic Punctuation Edits guidelines relating to the text (see above), but no timestamps! The QA rate is lower since you'll only be checking the borders and doing some quick scans over the files.
