I had a job rejected with a low change %. Why?
There are two kinds of rejections: manual and automatic. The only rejection that is tied to your change percentage is the automatic rejection that occurs if you have a change percentage of 30% or higher.
The QA rejections are manual rejections, and they are based on the
quality rather than
quantity of changes made. Some errors -
incorrect/misspelled tags, inserting timestamps or speaker IDs, etc. - will always be rejected by our QA team, as part of their job is to ensure the transcribers are following our Style Guide. This means that, yes, it is possible to have jobs with low change percentages be rejected while jobs with a higher number of changes are accepted.
Examples of errors QAs will likely reject for:
- Incorrect, capitalized, or misspelled tags
- If any comments are inserted into a file (e.g., "I can't hear this")
- If timestamps or speaker IDs are inserted in the text
- Multiple misheard, missing, or mixed up words that indicate lack of proofing
- 3 or more typos/misspelled words
- Beginning and/or ending a chunk with dashes or ellipses
- Use of [inaudible] or [crosstalk] instead of striving to discern what was said
- Lack of research despite clear context
- Missing capital letters and/or punctuation throughout the chunk
- Several errors of any kind that show a general lack of care
If you take care to avoid these types of errors in your jobs, you should be safe from rejections!
